The Snack Bag as a Light Source

A medium-weight cotton tee that takes a corner-shop snack bag and lights it like a religious object — amber, crimson and gold, glowing from the inside.

The whole design runs on one idea: the thing you'd never look twice at is the only thing in the frame giving off light. Everything else in the composition is lit by it.

The baqqāli — the neighbourhood grocer — is where most of this kind of memory actually lives. Not the monuments, not the museums. A counter, a shelf of familiar packaging, and whatever you were given money for on the way home.

The Design Vision

• Lit from within: The bag is drawn as the light source rather than a lit object, which is what pulls the image into surrealism instead of nostalgia.

• Two scripts, one sign: Persian lettering set alongside the Latin text, the way real corner-shop packaging carries both without thinking about it.

• The bee: A small character tucked into the corner, doing the job of undercutting the whole reverent mood before it gets too serious about itself.

• Smoke into stars: Wisps rising off the centre and resolving into constellation points — the visual joke of a snack ascending.

Sacred lighting. Absolutely trivial subject.
