Gold Filigree, Deep Blue, Worn With Power

A medium-heavy cotton-blend hoodie carrying the portrait of a sovereign woman — crowned, armoured at the shoulder, and framed by a field of dense floral geometry.

The composition is built like an illuminated page: a figure held at the centre, ornament extending into every remaining space, and no empty field left without purpose.

Persia has a longer record of women holding power than it is usually credited with. Two Sasanian queens, Boran and Azarmidokht, ruled in their own right in the seventh century and struck coinage in their own names. Further back, Achaemenid administrative tablets from Persepolis record women managing estates, drawing rations for their own workforces and travelling on official business.

The crown here is not a costume.

On a hoodie, the image becomes something closer to a piece of armour itself — carried on the body, built for colder streets, and designed to hold its presence from a distance.

The Design Vision

• Crown and gem: A single violet stone sits at the centre of the goldwork, giving the eye its first fixed point before it begins to follow the surrounding ornament.
• Lion and phoenix: Two ancient motifs are worked into her shoulder plates — one for force, one for return. Armour that argues rather than simply protects.
• Gold against deep blue: Burnished warm metal against a cold, dark ground, echoing the depth and contrast found in Persian manuscript painting.
• Ornament to the edges: Floral geometry fills the field behind her, allowing the portrait to exist within the pattern rather than simply sitting on top of it.
• Built for the garment: The heavier silhouette of the hoodie gives the artwork a stronger physical presence — less like a printed image, more like something carried with you.

She is not waiting to be introduced. She arrives already crowned.
