The Sun Entering Leo, Stitched in Gold

A medium-weight cotton tee carrying the Shir-o-Khorshid as a single embroidered crest on the left chest, in gold thread, and nothing else anywhere on the garment.

The crest is genuinely stitched rather than printed — raised thread you can feel under a thumb, with the directional sheen that only embroidery gives. It catches light differently depending on how you're standing.

Before it was ever a state emblem, the lion and sun was astronomy. It shows the sun in the house of Leo, an exaltation drawn from the zodiac charts that circulated across the medieval Islamic world, and it turns up on Seljuk coinage in that sense long before any dynasty adopted it. The sword came later. The version here is the uncrowned one — the older reading, closer to the almanac than to the throne.

The Design Vision

• Left chest, over the heart: Placed where a badge sits rather than where a graphic sits, which changes the whole register of the shirt.

• High-density gold embroidery: Tight stitch coverage that holds the lion, the sword and the rayed sun cleanly at small scale, and gives the crest physical relief off the fabric.

• Uncrowned by choice: No dynastic crown above the lion — this is the older civil form of the emblem, not the Pahlavi one.

• Nothing else on the shirt: No back print, no wordmark, no secondary graphic. One mark, carried quietly.
