A lightweight tee carrying the Farvahar under the oldest imperial title in the region — rendered as weathered relief carving rather than clean graphic line.
One icon, one line of text, and a lot of empty fabric around them. The restraint is deliberate: the design is built to be read at distance and then examined up close, not to fill the shirt.
Shahanshah — in Old Persian, xšāyaθiya xšāyaθiyānām — does not mean "great king." It means king of kings, and it was literal: a ruler whose subjects included other kings, each running their own territory beneath him. Darius had it carved into the cliff face at Behistun in three languages, over a hundred metres up, where nobody could comfortably read it. The audience was not passers-by.
The Design Vision
Carved, not printed: The Farvahar carries a sandstone relief finish with real depth in the shadows — the feathers, the covenant ring and the raised hand all read as cut into a surface rather than laid on top of one.
Cuneiform-derived lettering: The wordmark is set in an angular custom face drawn from the wedge strokes of Old Persian cuneiform, which turns the Latin alphabet into something closer to masonry than typography.
Space as the frame: A single high-impact graphic with a wide margin around it. The negative space is what keeps the feather detail legible instead of crowding it.
Wingspan across the shoulders: The wide horizontal spread anchors the back placement and sits with the line of the shoulders rather than fighting it.
The title outlasted every man who claimed it.
