The Lion and Sun is one of the oldest continuously used emblems in Iranian visual culture. The lion carries the old astrological reading of Leo, the sun rising on its back; over centuries it moved from coinage and royal standards to the national flag itself. Rendered in raised gold stitch rather than print, it sits on the cap as an emblem rather than a graphic.
The Design Vision
Raised gold embroidery: High-density stitch gives the crest physical relief, catching light at the edges the way metal thread does on ceremonial textiles.
Front-panel placement: Centred on the crown, sized to read clearly at conversational distance without dominating the cap.
Unstructured crown: Soft six-panel build that collapses and sits low, so the emblem reads as worn rather than displayed.
Ten colourways: From black and navy through stone, khaki and cranberry — the gold holds contrast on every one.
Some emblems outlive every flag they were sewn onto.
