The Farvahar is one of the most recognised images from the ancient Iranian world, carved into Achaemenid palace walls more than two and a half thousand years ago. It has come to stand for the Zoroastrian creed in three words: good thoughts, good words, good deeds.
The Design
The Archetype: The central figure is rendered with a lithic, tactile finish that mimics weathered Achaemenid limestone. The raised hand signifies the pursuit of higher ideals; the ring in the other hand represents a covenant of loyalty.
The Winged Symmetry: The three layers of feathers are not decorative. They carry the Zoroastrian triad — thought, word and deed — built into the structure of the symbol itself.
Persian Script: Beneath the wings, the script marks the path of righteousness, grounding the graphic in language as well as image.
