One Arrow Drew the Border of Iran

A lightweight cotton tee built around the oldest archery story Iran has. Arash the Archer — Ārash-e Kamāngīr — is the hero who ended a war with a single shot and paid for it with his life.

The graphic keeps the myth in the register it belongs to: earth reds, bone and ink, drawn like a page lifted from a manuscript rather than a poster. The archer is caught in the moment before release, when the outcome is still undecided.

Iran and Turan had fought each other to exhaustion and agreed to let one arrow mark the frontier between them. Arash climbed Mount Damavand, poured every remaining measure of his strength into a single shot and loosed it at dawn; the arrow flew until noon and fell on the bank of the Oxus. He never came down the mountain — the shot had taken all of him. Iranians still keep the day as Tirgan.

The Design Vision

• The moment before release: A single front placement holding the archer at full draw, weight low and planted, caught in the half-second of stillness that decides everything. Nothing about the pose is decorative — it is a man doing the last thing he will ever do.

• The story left unresolved: There is no second panel, no arrow landing, no aftermath. The design stops at the draw and leaves it there, which is the only honest way to render a shot that took half a day to finish.

• A manuscript palette: Deep ochres, oxidised reds and ink blacks, the colour range of illuminated Persian painting rather than modern print. It reads as aged pigment on the shirt, not as a logo.

• Ornament that stays quiet: Fine border detail frames the composition without crowding it, so the tee carries the story at conversation volume instead of shouting it.

An arrow that flew half a day, on a shirt you can wear all of it.
